My guest Stacy Bare gave us an insider’s overview on what it is to be a warrior in today’s military and the struggles that veterans returning to civilian life are facing.  The military experience includes rigorous physical preparedness and mission assigments coupled with a rich comradery that relies on watching each other’s back.  Stacy is working with veterans to recapture these qualities in his organization Veterans Expeditions (www.vetexpeditions.com).

So where does the warrior paradigm fit in with the average citizen?  And why are veterans feeling so separated from civilians?  Are we not all humans sharing the human experience in all its variety?

The answers to these questions are much longer than a simple blog can respond to.  But the questions themselves are important to ask.

One point of confluence between civilians and veterans is the desire, the need to feel connected. Who has your back covered?  In this fast moving world of information overload and time commitments, conveniences often come at the price of the authentic.  A step in the direction of living as an authentic human includes the knowledge that there are other humans out there who would watch your back – who care about your right to be and have proven this by going to battle for you.
