Jean Houston on Leading Conversations with Cheryl Esposito.

Cheryl Esposito welcomes Dr. Jean Houston, scholar, philosopher, researcher in human capacities, and one of the principal founders of the Human Potential Movement.

To say Jean Houston is forward thinking is an understatement. A true visionary for what is (beyond the obvious), and what can be, she speaks to the complexity of our times as being an indicator rather than a problem. She sees it as if the “reset button” for the future has been switched on…and we just need to get on with it.

Jean purports that “we are now directors of a world that was previously directing us.”  The question is how to step into that enormous task?

Her challenge to us: Awaken to your own purpose in this time of global complexity. Join Cheryl Esposito and Dr. Jean Houston to wake up to your journey!

David Jay on Leading Conversations radio with Cheryl Esposito

Cheryl Esposito welcomes David Jay, an international fashion photographer and founder of The Scar Project, a series of large-scale portraits of young breast cancer survivors to raise awareness, challenge traditional perceptions, and tell the truth about the disease.

David Jay has been shooting fashion and beauty professionally for over 20 years. His images have appeared in a multitude of international magazines & advertising campaigns. He says he owes a great deal of thanks to his 4th grade teacher, who taught the class to build a “camera” with a shoebox, a pinhole, and some string…(Let this be a reminder to us all- the power of a teacher in a child’s life…we owe them gratitude and much more.) That sparked David’s interest in cameras and he never put it down – though he did not plan a career in photography.

After several years as an edgy fashion photographer, he was personally impacted when a friend in her twenties was diagnosed with breast cancer. What followed was a remarkable collaboration that led to The Scar Project. David’s eye for beauty within, led him to create photographs of more than 100 breast cancer survivors. The exhibition of large-scale portraits travels the world. A book of portraits and autobiographical sketches by each woman, describing her experience with breast cancer, has been created – The Scar Project: Breast Cancer Is Not a Pink Ribbon.

David says the project has changed his views on life immensely, “We as humans tend to procrastinate doing the things we need to do in life. We put things off, look the other way, surrender to our insecurity and fears. But Mother Nature will always have her way with us…forcing our hand…forcing us to live up to our own true potential. You can choose to live up to it…or die mired in it. This I know for sure, both from my own life and from photographing these women.”

Join Cheryl Esposito and David Jay to discover the difference one person can make around the world.

Sandra Yancey on Leading Conversations radio with Cheryl Esposito

Cheryl Esposito welcomes Sandra Yancey Founder & CEO of eWomenNetwork, the premier women’s business network in North America. She is author of Relationship Networking: The Art of Turning Contacts Into Connections and her newest project, Succeeding in Spite of Everything a book of lessons learned and savvy moves that inspire and shake-up old paradigms of success.

Succeeding in Spite of Everything could be the title of Sandra Yancey’s life. She grew up with a single mom, her father died when Sandra was 5 years old. Her mom helped her know that she could be happy no matter what, and that she could have anything she wanted in life. She set out to do just that. Sandra married her high school sweetheart, graduated college, became a successful (and overworked) executive, had a child, then asked the question: what really matters? She had an epiphany and changed her life- at least she thought she had.

Trading her corporate job for an entrepreneurial lifestyle, she found that she had a new role but the same work habits: overworked, too much travel, not enough time to spend with her family, and less time to take care of herself.

Time for another epiphany and a lot of courage! Where did it come from? How do some people live with resilience in situations where others crumble? Join Cheryl Esposito and Sandra Yancey to learn the secrets of Succeeding in Spite of Everything!

Staci Haines, 1/20 at 10amPST on Leading Conversations radio with Cheryl Esposito to discuss, “Leadership:Trauma Matters”

Cheryl Esposito welcomes Staci Haines, founder of generationFIVE, a social justice organization whose mission is to end the sexual abuse of children within 5 generations through survivor leadership, community organizing, transformative justice approaches and movement building. We work to interrupt and mend the intergenerational impact of child sexual abuse on individuals, families, and communities.”

Staci authored the worldwide acclaimed book The Survivor’s Guide to Sex: How to Have an Empowered Sex Life After Childhood Sexual Abuse.

Transforming trauma is Staci’s business. She has integrated the discipline of Somatics (often applied in Leadership Coaching) into healing trauma in people’s lives. Working through the psycho-biology is a powerful way to move from managing traumatic symptoms to transforming trauma and your life. Transforming trauma includes being able to change the deep reactions that linger long after traumatic experiences– the fight, flight, freeze and dissociative responses which emerge automatically to protect us. While these responses are initially life saving, they tend to create havoc over time.

Staci created Generative Somatics, a program where people are able to learn presence and boundaries. They learn to re-establish connection with themselves and others, to connect with what gives their life meaning, and to leverage their resilience.

Join Cheryl Esposito & Staci Haines learn how trauma (sexual or otherwise) can be transformed to empower lives.

Cheryl Esposito welcomes Nina Simons, a social entrepreneur, and co-founder of Bioneers, writer and thought leader in women’s leadership. Her previous roles include President of Seeds of Change and Director of Strategic Marketing for Odwalla. Nina says that we are operating with an inherited definition of leadership that does not serve us in the 21st century. It carries with it assumptions that play out in actions, structures of organizations, implicit as well as explicit agreements of societal norms.   Nina implores us to develop a new practice of leadership: “It is the correlations between inner awareness and outer work, and celebrating the interconnectedness of environment, health, social justice and the sacred” that are key to this evolution in leadership. What are the unspoken assumptions in your own leadership? Listen to this episode of Leading Conversations with Cheryl Esposito to explore your own shift in consciousness!
