Gwynne Dyer Academy Award nominee for War to join host Peter ter Weeme

World Talk Radio Network, Internet broadcasting pioneer, producing and syndicating online audio and video, today announced that internationally acclaimed journalist, columnist, broadcaster and lecturer, Gwynne Dyer will join Peter ter Weeme, host of the Green With Envy radio program on the World Talk Radio Variety Channel (www.worldtalkradio.com) Thursday, July 21, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

With increasingly violent and unusual weather being one of the top news stories of 2011, Gwynne will share his insights on how climate change will force the world’s powers into a desperate struggle for advantage and even survival. Author of a book a radio series called “Climate Wars”, he will explain how changing weather patterns will cause massive population shifts, natural disasters, spreading epidemics, drought, rising sea levels, plummeting agricultural yields, crashing economies and political extremism. Any of them could tip the world towards conflict.

Gwynne , who writes a twice-weekly column on international affairs published by over 175 papers in some 45 countries, has served in three navies and held academic appointments at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and Oxford University. His first television series, the 7-part documentary ‘War’, was aired in 45 countries in the mid-80s. One episode, ‘The Profession of Arms’, was nominated for an Academy Award. His award-winning radio documentaries include ‘The Gorbachev Revolution’, a seven-part series based on Dyer’s experiences in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union in 1987-90, and ‘Millenium’, a six-hour series on the emerging global culture.

During the last decade he has also written a trio of more contemporary books dealing with the politics and strategy of the post-9/11 world: ‘Ignorant Armies’ (2003), ‘Future: Tense’ (2004), and ‘The Mess They Made’ (2006). The latter was also published as ‘After Iraq’ in the US and the UK and as ‘Nach Iraq und Afghanistan’ in Germany.
