Wed Dec 1 2010 Show - Most politicians avoid the subject of electricity with a ten-foot pole. Electricity has long been considered a right in North America, yet electricity is generated on complex infrastructures, and pricing schemes that are rarely understood, even by people in the business. As the aging infrastructure is being adapted for the needs of the 21st century, most politicians fear the wrath of voters angry with rising electricity bills that can make, or break the results on Election Day. When opposition leaders harness that voter anger, government leaders often capitulate. Yet, steady political leadership is needed.
